2021 Monthly Public Meetings

• We received an update from our new Council Liaison Councillor Potts,
• and from our community liaison Michael Hill who gave us the February North Park update.  
• We talked about the Council liaison Terms of Reference, as well as the Tiny Home Community project (details on Development Tracker here).
• Eleni and Harold gave us a Land Use update, and let us know that the CALUC (land use committee!) is looking for new members.
• See the letter sent on Feb. 9 2021 from the NPNA CALUC about the Tiny Home Community.
• Tara invited us to the February Food Market (Feb. 21 10:30am-1:30pm @ RAP) and gave us some background on the monthly food markets.
• Sarah gave an update on NPNA programs and events. 

• At this meeting we received an update from Councillor Potts about what’s going on at Council this week.
• There was an update from Julian Daly (Our Place), Bill Eisenhauer (City of Victoria), and Olivia Wheater (Aryze) about the Tiny Home Community (going to public hearing on March 18).
• Our city liaison, Michael Hill gave shared what’s going on at the City as well as an update on the proposed neighbourhood boundary changes. 
• We received a land use update from Eleni Gibson and Harold Stanley.
• Mark Wilson and Bruce Wallace (SOLID Outreach Society & UVic Drug Checking Project) shared their plans with the community about the purchase of the SOLID building.

• We will be receiving an update on sheltering in parks from Shannon Perkins, Bylaw Director with the City of Victoria.
• Also in attendance will be North Park Council liaison Councillor Marianne Alto, and community liaison Michael Hill.
• During this meeting we will receive an update from the City about the plan for working with the campers in Central Park to bring everyone into compliance with the new bylaws. • We received an update on sheltering in parks, an update on how the City intents to improve engagement and communication, a land use update, and an update on the Local Area Plan.  See the draft meeting notes here. 

• The City of Victoria’s “northern” neighbourhoods (Fernwood, North Park, Burnside-Gorge, Vic West, Downtown, Oaklands, South Jubilee, and Hillside Quadra) will be hosting an all-candidates forum ahead of the December 12 by-election.
• The debate will take place via Zoom and Facebook Live on Dec. 1, 2020, at 7 p.m. It will be moderated by Joe Perkins of CHEK News.

• During this meeting, we received a Land Use update from Eleni Gibson (Land Use Planning Advisor),
• an invitation to a workshop on December 17 with the Existence Project,
• a sheltering in parks update from Shannon Perkins (Bylaw Manager),
• and a Q+A period with MLA Grace Lore, and BC Housing’s Murray Langdon.
